What will you do?

Reporting to the Sr. Director of QA and DevSecOps, the Senior DevSecOps Engineer will be a mentor and technical lead for the team as well as hands-on-keyboard to develop and build infrastructure and automated deployment pipelines that align the right amount of security, compliance, performance, and resilience to support the continuous delivery of software at Raptor Technologies.

 

Technical Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and be hands-on-keyboard in the process of defining, designing, and implementing the build, deployment, security, and monitoring standards for applications and services which deliver the Raptor Technologies suite of products
  • Work closely with development teams to create automated CI/CD pipelines for deploying code into staging and production environments
  • Create, develop, and implement automation and system integration for various build platforms
  • Build and configure delivery environments supporting CI/CD tools
  • Create scripts and templates to automate and bootstrap infrastructure
  • Build and maintain CI/CD building blocks and shared libraries proactively for development teams to enable quicker build and deployment.
  • Participate in on-call schedule to support production environments
  • Evaluate application and infrastructure performance, identify potential bottlenecks, develop solutions, and implement them with the help of developers
  • Other relevant projects as needed

Mentorship Responsibilities: 

  • Guide and recommend technical approaches, frameworks, and patterns
  • Create technical development plans (post-prototype)
  • Work in collaboration with the architect on new designs and technologies
  • Provide technical mentorship for members of the scrum team based on findings in code reviews
  • Help translate high-level organizational goals into quarterly team and individual goals for the team 

What do you need to succeed?

  • Senior level experience (at least 10 years) working with Developers, DevOps, and Engineering teams in a dynamic environment to promote and implement the DevSecOps program throughout the organization
  • Proven track record of building deployment pipelines to facilitate the continuous delivery of software, services, and systems
  • Experience  building infrastructure in the Azure cloud environment
  • Experience leveraging infrastructure as code tooling to establish standards for deploying infrastructure (we use Azure ARM Templates and Terraform)
  • Passion for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of systems, services and data deployed through automated deployment pipelines
  • Ability to review and analyze security and vulnerability data to identify security risks to the organization's network, infrastructure, and application
  • Experience with deployment pipeline technologies (we use Azure DevOps, AWS Code Pipeline, and GitLab)
  • Active knowledge of DevOps Automation (Terraform, GitHub, GitHub Actions)
  • Strong understanding of security concepts, including threat modeling, risk assessment, and vulnerability management.
  • Knowledge of container security principles, such as Docker and Kubernetes. Experience with DevOps practices, such as continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) and infrastructure as code (IaC)
  • Exposed to deploying and working with container hosting platforms (we use Kubernetes, AWS AKS, and Azure)
  • Experience leveraging operational tooling platforms to monitor the health of software, services, and systems (we use DataDog and New Relic)
  • Proficiency in Bash, Python or other scripting languages

Strongly preferred:

  • Served in a mentor or leadership position – either formally or informally
  • Willing to travel to Houston twice per year 
  • Comprehension in the security areas of Key Management Systems, Certificate Management, Encryption, Penetration Testing, Vulnerability Scanning, Security and Monitoring tools, etc.
